Family devotionals can be a lot of fun with some planning and creative thought. We like to set aside a day in the week where we can have family time before bed to sing songs, share a scripture or read a Bible story, play a game or have a fun activity and pray together. Some of these ideas are our own and some are shared ideas of friends and from reading books. These devotionals are written primarily for families with kids ages 1-10.
Self Control
Read 2 Timothy 1:7
Put one M&M in front of each child and tell them they can have the one candy now or they can wait until the devotional is over and get 10 candies (maybe take one away every time they ask if it is time yet). Talk their choice through with them and show them what choice you are making. Talk about the importance of self control, saving, discipline and waiting so things will get even better. What are some situations when patience is important? Read Proverbs 6:6, 30:25 while the children wait over their M&Ms.
